Preface: I have both of my old break sticks from when I used to play. My first break stick was a club of a McDermott EB-6 at the max weight available (I think 21 oz). Then I upgraded to the Predator BK (original version).
If all (or most of) the new technology is in the shaft, I'm wondering if I should just hang on to them and put upgraded break shafts on them eventually.
I see a few options for myself. I can continue to use the BK1 as is until I can afford a Predator BK Rush shaft and then sell the original 314 shaft. I can buy a mid-tier break shaft and put it on the BK1 butt. I can buy an Amazon CF break shaft and put it on the McDermott butt.
If a lot of the new improvements rely on the combination of the new butt and new shaft, then the long term goal might be a whole new break cue eventually.
I am just going to be a league player for a bit while I find my game again, so not much high demand for a year or two.
What do you all think?
